Toronto Flights Guide
The second largest city in Canada, Toronto is a vibrant, sophisticated, cosmopolitan and modern place with a decidedly European flavor. It's the most heavily populated area in the country, and also Canada's commercial, financial and cultural centre. It's also a heady mix of more than 80 different cultures speaking over 100 languages.
In keeping with its reputation as the country's business heart, Toronto offers towering modern buildings and a wide assortment of museums, art galleries, excellent restaurants, shopping malls packed with designer boutiques, a number of beautiful parks and, as it's located on the shores of Lake Ontario, it also boasts a bustling waterfront area. And then there's Toronto's cultural side - the city sits comfortably next to London and New York when it comes to excellent theatre, opera and dance.
The city's landmark is the CN Tower, the tallest free-standing building in the world. It's a popular attraction, and visitors enjoy taking the glass-fronted elevators up 553m to enjoy panoramic views from the indoor and outdoor observation decks. In 2013 the tower received a new neighbor - the Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, which is also a towering structure. Another popular attraction is Toronto's Skydome, the largest entertainment centre on earth, with a retractable roof.
Toronto's heart is in the multitude of quirky neighbourhoods with their diverse cultures and traditions. If you walk through Old Toronto, you'll find a world of street stalls and local craft shops, a complete contrast to the city's modern glitz. Each little suburb has its own character, and exploring here is a joy.
