Perth Flights Guide
Located on the banks of the Swan River, Perth is Western Australia's largest city. Developed during the Gold Rush in the late 19th Century, the city boomed again in the 1960s through ore and nickel mining. Despite its isolation from Australia's other main cities of Melbourne and Sydney, Perth has thrived. Today it's a modern, thriving metropolis, with long, wide streets, lush parks, four universities and a well-designed city centre.
The city is particularly famous for its restaurants - in fact, Perth boasts more restaurants than any other city in Australia. With the opportunity of enjoying various activities by the river or on the beach, Perth is also an ideal holiday destination. There are more than 80km of exquisite white sand beaches near the city, with the most popular being Cottlesloe and Scarborough, and also nearby is the oldest wine-growing area in Western Australia, called Swan Valley. Here visitors can visit some of the excellent family owned wineries and enjoy wine tastings as well as wine pairings with excellent meals at the cellar's restaurants.
The city is home to the oldest operating mint in the world, and there are also a number of excellent museums and art galleries to explore, as well as some historic buildings. Aside from its cultural significance, the city offers various entertainment facilities, including a casino and some excellent shopping malls.
