Auckland Flights Guide
New Zealand's largest city, and one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Auckland is situated on a narrow strip of land with two magnificent harbours, one to the east and the other to the west. One of these is the shallow Manukau Harbour, which opens into the Tasman Sea, while the other, a deep water port called Waitemata Harbour, is situated in the centre of the city, flanked by two magnificent harbours to the east and west. As the city is a paradise for sailing enthusiasts, it's called the City of Sails.
Auckland is famous for its magnificent, lively waterfront area, full of chic restaurants and waterside cafes. It has a vibrant waterfront that has flourished with the successful hosting of the America's Cup, and the trendy restaurants and waterside cafes are a constant hive of activity. The city is also culturally diverse, a veritable melting pot of cultures and traditions, which adds to its charm.
To get look at the city from another vantage point, take a ferry cruise around the harbour and then visit one of the beautiful islands dotted around the Gulf. The city really is breathtakingly beautiful; it's framed by Mount Eden and surrounded by the sweeping expanses of harbour. It's many districts are woven around little bays and harbours, so one is always close to the sea. The coastline offers beautiful beaches, and for the best surfing, one can head for Pihi and Muriwai.
New Zealand's most cosmopolitan city is also the base from which to explore the rest of this beautiful country. Despite having a village atmosphere, the sprawling city is home to the Sky Tower, the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. But you don't need to climb to the top of the tower to enjoy the panoramic views, which are all around you, offering scenes of the city and the mountains, as well as a number of lush green parks.
