Albuquerque, New Mexico, is a town originally founded by Spanish colonial settlers. It was built around a plaza, as Spanish towns are, and that plaza now forms the Old Town area of the city. The Rio Grande flows through the city. The city has many festivals including the Balloon Fair in October and the New Mexico State Fair in September. Flights to Albuquerque are available from gateway cities in the United States, including with Southwest Airlines from Los Angeles and United Express from San Francisco.
