South African Airways Information & Services

South African Airways, the national carrier of South Africa, was formed in February 1934, making it one of the world’s oldest airlines. Its main hubs are in Cape Town and Johannesburg. It currently carries over 7 million passengers per year and flies to 26 countries on 6 continents. South African Airways is a member of the Star Alliance airline alliance.

South African Airways offers First, Business and Economy classes on its international flights. First class passengers on flights originating from the UK and Ireland may take advantage of a chauffeur service to take them to the airport. Lounge access is available for First and Business passengers, with facilities including showers, business centres and a parent’s lounge. All classes offer inflight entertainment and meals.

Voyager is South African Airways’ frequent flyer programme. It offers levels of membership from the standard level of Blue, through to Platinum and Lifetime Platinum. All members can earn free flights. Benefits for those on the silver tier or above include additional baggage allowance, priority check in, lounge access and for Platinum and Lifetime Platinum members, a chauffeur service to the airport.
