Information on Qantas
Qantas is the national airline of Australia and was voted in the top 5 airlines in the world by Skytrax for 5 consecutive years. It was formed in 1920 in Queensland, and had its first scheduled flight in 1922. The airline operates nearly 750 international flights per week, as well as a domestic schedule. The Qantas Group fleet consists of 213 aircraft and is a member of the Oneworld airline alliance.
Qantas international flights have First, Business and Economy classes and premium economy is being rolled out from February 2008. In all classes, there is inflight entertainment, meals and beverages and on flights from Australia, all meals have Heart foundation approval. In business class, dedicated check-in and use of the Qantas Club Lounge is available, along with Skybeds on some aircraft. In First Class, the seats transform into a 6ft 6in bed and passengers are eligible to use the Qantas First Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne airports.
The frequent flyer programme offered by Qantas rewards points for every flight taken and for purchases made from selected partners. There are four levels of membership, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Some of the benefits of membership are - priority check in, additional baggage allowance and entry to the Qantas club for Gold and Platinum members. Membership of the Qantas club can also be purchased on the Qantas website.
