American Airlines has its worldwide headquarters at Dallas/Fort Worth and is a member of the oneworld airline alliance. The airline offers 22 flights per day from the United Kingdom to its American bases. American Airlines has a fleet of over 800 aircraft.

American Airlines has First, Business and Economy class on its international flights. Lie-flat beds are available on most routes in First and Business class, and meals are served at times convenient to the individual passengers. All classes offer inflight entertainment, including a large selection of movies. Powerpoints are available throughout the aeroplanes to enable passengers to work on their laptops, recharge their mobile phones or listen to CDs.

American Airlines opened the first VIP lounge in the industry in 1939. They now offer Admirals Club and Flagship Lounges across their network. Access to the Admirals Club can be purchased on a daily basis and is also available to First and Business Class passengers. Flagship Lounges are for First Class passengers. Both offer business facilities, complimentary bar and showers, amongst other benefits.

The frequent flyer programme run by American Airlines is AAdvantage, and is the largest such programme, with 45 million members worldwide. Membership levels in the programme are AAdvantage, AAdvantage Gold, AAdvantage Platinum and AAdvantage Executive Platinum. Benefits offered include bonus miles, priority check-in, preferred seating and free flights. Miles can be earned by flying with American Airlines or purchases with their travel and non-travel partners.
