Aer Lingus was formed in 1936 by the Irish Government, its first service operated from Dublin to Bristol. The airline now flies to nearly 70 destinations, including short haul flights across Europe and long haul flights to North America and the Middle East from Dublin and Shannon. The short haul fleet consists of Airbus A321s and A320s, while the long haul fleet is made up of Airbus A330s.

On short haul flights, the airline operates one cabin class, with food and drink available for purchase inflight. The hold baggage allowance is 20kg and there is a fee payable for per bag, which can be paid online or on arrival at the airport.

On long haul flights, premier (business) and economy classes are available. Some of the benefits of premier class include dedicated check in, fine food and priority unloading of baggage at the destination airport, as well as complimentary lounge access where available.

The Aer Lingus frequent flyer programme is called the Golden Circle Club. There are three levels of membership – Gold Circle, Gold Circle Prestige and Gold Circle Elite. All offer lounge access and points towards free flights with the airline. Gold Circle Prestige and Gold Circle Elite members have access to the British airways lounge at London Heathrow when connecting to a BA flight from this airport. Gold Circle Elite additionally offers a dedicated booking line and four complimentary upgrades, amongst other benefits.
