Where?
Torremolinos is on the Costa del Sol in Spain. It is one of the best known of the package holiday resorts, having been the original resort on the Costa del Sol in the 1960’s. Originally a fishing village, the resort of Torremolinos now features many high rise buildings. Torremolinos is very popular with those seeking winter sun, due to its all year round warm temperatures.

Beaches
The beaches at Torremolinos are clean and sandy, and larger than those at many other resorts on the Costa del Sol, making them very popular with visitors. The major beaches in Torremolinos are Playamar, Playa de Bajondillo, Los Alamos and Montemar. Watersports and sun loungers are readily available in this resort. The Paseo Maritimo Promenade runs from Torremolinos to the marina in the resort of Benalmadena.
Aqualand
Aqualand is the largest water park on the Costa del Sol and is situated close to the centre of Torremolinos. The new Boomerang ride is extremely popular, although not for the faint-hearted. Other amenities at Aqualand include a mini golf course and Kamikaze, an extremely high water slide. For famlies, the Mini Park is especially designed for children. The park is open between May and September.
Nightlife
The nightlife in Torremolinos is increasingly centred around the gay community, with other groups opting for the entertainment options in Marbella and Fuengirola. There are plenty of restaurants to suit all tastes, with particularly good fish restaurants in the area.
Malaga
The city of Malaga is close to Torremolinos and easily accessible by public transport, with a train running between the two. It can provide an interesting day trip for those that feel like a break from lying on the sunlounger. The city has many attractions including the Gibralfaro, the Picasso Museum and the Alcazba.
Golf
The Costa del Sol is gaining a reputation as being a wonderful place to go for a golfing holiday, and Torremolinos is surrounded by high standard golf courses. Courses close to Torremolinos include the Parador del Golf, situated on the seafront, and the Torrequebrada course in Benalmadena.
How to get there
Torremolinos is very close to Malaga Airport and therefore easily accessible for a short or long holiday. Flights to Malaga leave the UK from many airports, particularly during the summer months. Jet2 fly from Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, Belfast and Manchester. Other airlines flying to Malaga include Flybe, Thomsonfly and Monarch Airlines, with a flying time of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
