Torre del Mar is on the Costa del Sol and is situated around 20 miles east of the town of Malaga.  It is situated on the Velez River.  Torre del Mar is becoming more of a year round resort, attracting visitors in the summer who are interested in bars and discos, while attracting visitors during the winter months who are seeking some quiet winter sun.

Beaches

Torre del Mar has a wonderful sandy coastline with around 3 miles of sandy beaches on its doorstep.  There are all the usual tourist facilities to ensure that visitors have a wonderful holiday, including restaurants and bars all along the beach. 

El Copo

El Copo is the main area of Torre del Mar for restaurants and nightclubs, and is particularly lively on a Friday and Saturday night. It is centred around the promenade running along the beach and is one of the main attractions for many visitors to the resort.

Caleta de Valez

The port of Caleta de Valez has a wonderful marina and can be reached by walking along the promenade linking it to Torre del Mar.  The port is still a working port and consequently there are many seafood restaurants in and around Torre del Mar. 

Velez-Malaga

For those looking for a change from the beach and to see something of the real Spain, a visit to Velez-Malaga is highly recommended.  There are many beautiful historical buildings, including a 13th century Moorish castle and several impressive churches.  Legal cock-fighting is held on Sundays. 

How to get there

The nearest airport to Torre del Mar is Malaga, which is well served by both scheduled and charter flights from the UK.  Jet2 fly from regional airports including Newcastle and Leeds Bradford, while Monarch Airlines fly from London Luton.  Other airlines flying on the route are Flybe and Thomsonfly.  The flight time between Malaga and the UK is around 2 hours and 30 minutes.
