Tenerife is one of the islands making up the Spanish Canary Islands. Tenerife is one of the more popular of the Canary Islands and the largest in size. Amongst the main tourist centres in Tenerife are Puerto de la Cruz, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos.

Beaches

One of the main reasons that tourists flock to Tenerife each year is for the great climate and sandy beaches (both black and golden).  There are many beaches on Tenerife, some of the most popular include; Playa de Las Teresitas, Playa de Las Americas, Playa San Marcos and Los Cristianos.  Many of the island’s beaches have activities such as beach volleyball and watersports as well as beach side restaurants and bars.

Pyramids

The pyramids of Güímar are a series of 6 step pyramids rectangular in shape.  The pyramids are impressive and well worth visiting.  There is a museum onsite containing statues, photos, ceramics and various other artefacts.  There is also a souvenir shop.  

Aqualand

Aqualand is in close proximity to the tourist centres of Los Cristianos and Playa de las Americas, with a free shuttle bus running between the park and the resorts.  The park has a wide range of water slides, pools, sunbathing areas as well as restaurants.  Some of the park’s popular attractions include the Kamikaze, Super Slalom and Congo River.  The park also has a ‘dolphinarium’ with shows held twice a day.

Playa de las Americas

Playa de las Americas is the busiest and most popular of the resorts in Tenerife.  The resort attracts a diverse crowd, but most are attracted to the resorts nightlife and beaches.  Playa de las Americas is packed with bars and clubs, making it a popular resort for the 18-30s crowd.  Playa de las Americas has a wide range of options for eating, from the big fast food chains, Mc Donald’s, Burger King etc to traditional Spanish restaurants and everything in between.  Accommodation is plentiful, from self catering to hotel or package deal accommodation.

Cheap Flights to Tenerife

There are numerous airlines flying to Tenerife from the UK, including First Choice, Monarch Airlines and Jet2.  Easyjet offer flights from London Gatwick and Manchester, while Ryanair fly from East Midlands, Liverpool and London Stansted.  Flight time to Tenerife is around 4 hours.
