Estoril is a resort on the Lisbon Coast of Portugal, located close to the capital city of Lisbon.  It has a microclimate which means it does not get too hot in the summer and remains mild in the winter, thus making it a popular all-year resort.  Estoril has played host to several major sporting events over the years, including being the home of the Portugese Formula 1 Grand Prix and hosting an annual major tennis tournament.

Beaches

There are numerous beautiful beaches on the Estoril Coast, with many of them holding European Blue Flags. 

Praia do Tamariz – the beach of Tamariz is one of Estoril’s most popular.  It has facilities including showers and umbrellas, and also a swimming pool for those who prefer not to swim in the sea. 

Praia do Guincho – this beach is slightly north of Estoril but is the best beach in the area for those interested in watersports such as windsurfing and surfing.

Other beaches – other beaches on the Estoril Coast include Praia Monte Estoril and Praia dos Pescadores. 

Golf

Estoril is a good place to stay for visitors wishing to enjoy some golf during their holiday.  The surrounding area has many high standard 18-hole golf courses, including the Quinta da Beloura and Quinta da Marinha courses.  Due to the mild winters in Estoril, golfers can play throughout the year.  

Estoril Casino

Estoril Casino is one of the largest casinos in Europe.  As well as hosting gambling activities, it also has a reputation for putting on amazing cabaret and music hall shows.  There are several restaurants within the complex, including a Chinese restaurant.  The Casino is open between 3pm and 3am.
