Cannes Film Festival
The Cannes Film Festival is internationally recognised for its importance to the film industry. Held in the second half of May, it attracts industry professionals looking for film financing or to release films, and also visitors who are eager to mingle amongst the stars. One of the main centres for the Film Festival is the Palais des Festivals.
Boulevarrd de la Croisette
The Boulevard de la Croisette is one of the main tourist attractions in Cannes. The Boulevard runs along the coastline, and offers amazing views across the bay and of the Lerin Islands. Luxury is all around when walking along La Croisette, with hotels and shops on one side and beautiful yachts and beaches on the other.
St Marguerite Island
St Marguerite Island is one of the Lerin Islands which are located around half a mile from the coast at Cannes. A ferry is available to make the short trip to the island. The island is most famous for being the place where the Man in the Iron Mask was held, in Fort Royal. However, it also has outstanding natural beauty, with a botanical trail leading around the island.

Cannes has some beautiful sandy beaches, some of which are public beaches, and some of which are privately owned by the hotels. Private beaches can normally be accessed for a small fee. Popular beaches include Plage de la Croisette and Plage du Midi.

A short distance from Cannes, is the town of Nice. Nice is a historic town that has an old town area, which is home to the Cours Salaya Flower Market. The Carnaval, held every year in February, is a festival of parades and music, which attracts many visitors to the area.
