There are also mountain ranges that have been formed by past volcanic activity.

Maspalomas is one of the most popular attractions in Gran Canaria, with its expansive sandy beaches and sweeping dunes. Gran Canaria has some great nightlife, with a multitude of bars, nightclubs and restaurants centred around the busy resort town of Playa Del Ingles.
Fuerteventura has a very dry climate with barren landscapes. Caldera de Taburiente is a massive crater on La Palma and is the remnant of an extinct volcano, this breathtaking site is well worth a visit. The island’s capital, Santa Cruz is charming and relatively unspoilt, with stunning architecture and old cobbled streets.
Lanzarote is the furthest east of the Canary Islands. Lanzarote is one of the most popular of the Canaries and has some fabulous sights and attractions to experience, including the Timanfaya National Park and Puerto del Rosario.
