On the heel of Italy, Puglia slumbers under the warm southern sun. Puglia attracts summer visitors but the numbers are relatively low and the region so large to easily disperse them, that it often feels as if it is an undiscovered country. Puglia is far from an isolated backwater, however, as its towns enjoy a rich cultural life. Alberobello, with its narrow streets thronging with 'trulli' - the distinctively Puglian cylindrical house topped with a cone-shaped roof - is one of Puglia's better known attractions, but there are delightful little towns which rarely receive a mention in guide books. Ostuni, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino perch on outcrops of limestone which provide them with their characteristic white stone walls. Book online to save more!
